Lace Specialities, for Beginners and Experts Alike!

Instructor: Deborah Newton       Class Capacity: 25
Class Level: All levels welcome

Description ~ Lace Specialities, for Beginners and Experts Alike!

Whether you are seasoned lace knitter or just learning how to make your first "yarn over", you will find this lace workshop has something intriguing for you! In an engaging visual presentation, Deborah will present and explain all the types of lace there are -- from simple eyelet fabrics to the most open and cobwebby patterns.

Materials Needed ~ Lace Specialities, for Beginners and Experts Alike!

  • Yarn: Bring 3-4 skeins of a yarn you would love to use for a lace shawl. The best weight is a sport or DK, one that will give a Stockinette Stitch gauge of approx. 22 to 24 sts = 4". If you are an experienced knitter, you can, if you prefer, use a fine lace weight: it is up to you! Be sure to wind skeins into balls before you come aboard the ship so we are ready for the first class! Yarn color note: Deborah thinks it would be lovely if everyone brought a sea-blue or sky-blue yarn (or both!)-or a gorgeous "shades-of-blue" dyed yarn! Since the Aegean Sea and sky as our inspiration, it would be fun. We could take a lovely group photo at the end of the cruise, showing our progress, in our blue yarns!
  • Tools: Bring a range of needles appropriate for your yarn choice
